Infinite Campus Mobile App.pdf
Developed in collaboration with
the Kentucky Department of Education (KDE), Infinite Campus® is releasing a new
application for Apple®iOS devices (iPod
Touch®, iPhone®, and iPad®) called Campus
Mobile Portal. The app gives parents and students mobile access to the same
Campus Portal content they have access to today. Support for the app is part of
the E.1138 release, which will be available to your district on Wednesday, Oct.
5, 2011.
The app contains the following primary features:
|
|
Daily Planner lets students know
exactly where they need to be and when. It also shows them upcoming
assignments for each class. |
|
|
Assignments provides detailed information about what
students are, were, or will be expected to do in each of the classes. It’s also great when their
teacher uses the newly-enhanced Infinite Campus Assignments tool. |
|
|
Attendance provides both summary and detail
information about absences and tardies specific to Kentucky attendance
calculations. |
|
|
Grades provides immediate access to the important
metrics of success and allows parents and students to “drill down” to the
assignments that make up a particular grade. |
|
|
Schedule provides schedule information for every
term no matter how complex the schedule. |
|
|
Notifications, once enabled by your district, allows
parent and student subscribers to receive notifications about assignments,
grades and attendance changes according to their individual notification
preferences. |
The
interface is easy to use and requires no training.

Students and parents are walked through the process of obtaining the
app, connecting it to your district’s Infinite Campus system and signing in successfully.

Portal Link – Students and parents see the familiar App Store icon
indicating the presence of an iOS application.
After clicking on the App StoreSM
icon, the user will be shown the screen below.
The information walks the student or parentthrough getting their device
connected to their data in three simple steps.

Go Mobile – The simple steps involved to connect a student or parent’s
device to their data. The access code on
this screen isvery important.
The Campus Mobile Portal follows the preferences your district has set
for the Campus Portal.
·
If Schedule
is enabled, students and parents will be able to view the Schedule and Daily
Planner tools.
·
If Grade
Book is enabled, they will be able to view assignments in the Daily
Planner, assignment detail via the Assignments tool, and Grades.
· If Attendance is enabled, this information will be available in the Campus Mobile Portal as well.
Enabling
Push Notification
The district’s technology staff will need to enable Push Notifications
for the Campus Mobile Portal. Notifications are triggered by user actions. If a
particular type of change (Attendance, Grades, Assignments) is modified, a
Mobile Portal user will receive notifications for those areas where the user
has chosen to receive notifications. Notifications are only delivered for
Active Year calendars.
The
Portal flag is used to determine who can view and receive notifications about
certain students. Each Mobile Portal user can have one or more devices. For
each device, the user can select different notification settings. Notification
functionality is not guaranteed by Apple or by Infinite Campus.
|
|
Districts
may need to open Port 5671 on their firewall to let notification
messages out from their district. |

Use the Portal Preferences tool within System Administration to enable
Push Notification to mobile devices.
Creating
a Banner Message for Stakeholders
The district may wish to alert staff members, students, and parents
about the new Campus Mobile Portal. An easy and effective way to accomplish
this is via User Notices.

Use the User Notices tool within User
Communication to create an announcement.
For example:
Coming soon: Campus Mobile
Portal for Students and Parents. Developed in collaboration with the Kentucky Department of Education (KDE),
Infinite Campus® is releasing a new application for Apple®iOS devices (iPod Touch®, iPhone®, and iPad®)
called Campus Mobile Portal. This app, available free from the App StoreSM , will give parents and students mobile access to the same Campus Portal
content they have access to today. Support for this app is part of the E.1138 release, which will be available on
Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2011.”
Assignments Tool
Because the Campus Mobile Portal displays the same information as the
Campus Portal, teachers will need to use the new Assignments tool to provide
students and parents with assignment due dates and details.

Use the Assignments tool within Instruction
to specify assignment detail and due dates.
